The Turbo Group operates a number of test facilties to support turbocharger and turboexpander research and development, at both component and system level:

  • The Motored Compressor Rig is used to measure turbocharger compressor performance under steady and pulsating flow
  • The Surge Rig is used to measure turbocharger compressor performance under surge conditions
  • The TASR: Transient Air System Rig (pictured above) is used to measure whole engine multistage air system performance under steady, pulsating and transient-pulsating conditions
  • The Turbine Dynamometer is used to measure turbocharger turbine aerodynamic performance under steady and pulsating flow
